Back to beginning for new beginning

Back when I started blogging like five years ago, it was a journal of my exploits in letter writing. This most recent craft project returns to those roots for a paper project. It’s a card for our HR manager who is leaving for a different company.

A have a bunch of paper pads from Joann’s and Michaels, plus a folder full of scraps. I started by building the base of the card with a solid blue and a cloud print on white cardstock. Then, with some scrap paper, I made a template of the balloon shape. I traced it twice on to other scrap pieces (except the center, which is just a single copy). I folded each balloon shape in half, then glued together.

Then I trimmed another piece of scrap for the basket, glued it down, and added colorful butcher’s twine (glued underneath). The balloon shapes are glued down over the other ends of the butcher’s twine.

Lastly, I wrote a short message “New adventures await” on some white scrap, which I glued to another scrap piece (red), for the banner.

Ultimately, it came out better than I had anticipated. And out HR manager seemed to appreciate it too.
